Ruby-throated Hummingbird II was painted in 1943 at Annapolis, Maryland, while Dr. Earl Henry was serving as a dentist at the U.S. Naval Academy. The painting was a birthday present for the artist’s mother.
The background color is a creamy yellow though some computer screens make it look orange or pink.
